Our Story

Who We Are

We’re not a travel agency.

We’re a circle of adventurers chasing meaning, connection, and stories that stay with you long after the road ends.

Shambhala Expeditions was founded in 2024 by Alberto Díaz, a lifelong explorer who’s travelled to over 70 countries,  and every single province and region of China.

After years on the road, he built Shambhala to share the magic, mystery, and raw beauty of this land with those who crave more than just another trip.

We don’t do “tours.”

We craft expeditions, deep journeys across ancient trails, forgotten towns, and wild frontiers few outsiders ever reach.

Our travelers aren’t picked for comfort. They’re chosen for curiosity, openness, and courage. The kind of people who laugh in the rain, try the unknown, and make strangers feel like family.

It’s not about ticking boxes. It’s about the people you meet, the moments you can’t plan, and the stories you’ll tell around a campfire years from now.

If you’re looking for something polished and predictable, this isn’t it.

But if you’re looking for a community that feels like home,  even in the farthest corners of China, welcome to Shambhala.

This is your adventure.

Your story starts here.

From remote mountain trails to cultural hidden gems, we design seamless, small-group adventures that combine exploration, and authentic local experiences.
